The Lead Analyst role is a high impact position within the corporate center of a recognized leader in the energy industry. The successful candidate will have responsibility for management reporting at the EFH level and will support analytical and information requests from the Sponsor group, coordinate and support external valuation, and other complex ad hoc analysis as needed.
The incumbent will work closely with Senior Level Management across EFH, developing insights and perspectives into the key value drivers of each business required to successfully execute the company’s strategy. This high profile role requires a strong and demonstrated track record in analytical thinking, problem solving and communication, with subject matter expertise in strategic planning in a deregulated energy market, , finance and accounting. This position reports to the Director of Financial Planning & Analysis.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
In this position, the candidate will be required to:
Use deep understanding of EFH financial drivers to develop and synthesize analyses for the management team and to the Sponsor group
Use deep understanding of EFH financial drivers in scenario and sensitivity analysis
Develop, summarize and communicate key findings to EFH’s management with clear and concise storylines verbally and in writing
Assist with preparation of materials for Monthly Performance Review and Quarterly Management Meetings
Assist with the creation of Long Range Plan and associated materials
Support the preparation of reports comparing actual cash flows to plan
Serve as thought partner with team members and across business units to resolve complex financial issues
Develop presentations for investors and key financial stakeholders (e.g., ratings agencies)
Model operational and financial assumptions for EFH’s major business units leveraging a model that details income statement, cash flow statement and balance sheet effects
Perform sensitivity analyses for EFH’s commodity exposures to estimate impact on cash flow, EBITDA and covenant compliance
Ensure accuracy and quality control in all aspects of financial planning and modeling
Ad hoc analysis as needed
This position requires outstanding problem solving, analytical, and communication skills, in addition to a strong work ethic.
Minimum 5 years professional services experience with a demonstrated track record of success in professional services or energy company in a financial analysis role
Experience presenting to senior executives
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated experience as a thought leader, with the ability to structure key issues and questions, pressure test assumptions and determine key financial drivers
Significant experience developing financial models (driver based models with underlying income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statements). Experience working in Hyperion Planning and/or Hyperion Strategic Finance preferred
Experience in forecasting and maintaining complex capital structure
Experience in forecasting and evaluating the impacts of transactions on compliance with documents governing the debt structure preferred
Experience in modeling and evaluating debt restructuring transactions preferred
Energetic, intellectually curious and performance driven
Able to manage multiple initiatives, deadlines and extended working hours during special projects, external financial communications and earnings releases
Able to work across functional or business units and develop strong relationships inside the company and with external counterparts
Able to provide strong references and demonstrate progressive career advancement
Degree in finance, accounting, engineering, math or sciences.
