The Lead Engineer / Technologist will demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an assigned area. In this role, you will integrate and develop Thermal Methods & Technologies to enhance the Thermal / Fluid analysis capabilities of aircraft engine components and systems.
This includes the development and validation of processes related to Fluid Systems, Heat Transfer and Computational Fluid Dynamics for the purpose of supporting the design of aircraft engines. Develop new methods and technologies or enhance current methods and technologies for the purpose of pushing the technology in aircraft engines forward for lower Specific Fuel Consumption, higher thermodynamic efficiencies and increased hardware life.
Specific components or regions of investigation are:
Rotor / Stator Heat Transfer
Fluid System Design
Combustor Heat Transfer
Turbine Flow Path Heat Transfer
In addition, you will:
Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements
Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned projects
Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues
Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Work with a variety of engineering organizations and contribute to the development of the engine systems and designs
Provide the opportunity to understand and apply detailed physics to analysis of engine components
Plan and execute component and engine test programs and utilize the results to validate engine designs, systems and analytical models
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
Minimum of 3 additional years of experience in an Engineering position

Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
High level of computer proficiency
Advanced degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering related to heat transfer or fluid mechanics
Experience in calculating flows and temperatures in support of product design and analysis
Talented, highly motivated with good engineering judgment
Effective in contributing in a structured, cross functional team work environment
Engineering experience in GE Aviation turbo machinery design
Experience with PATRAN, ANSYS and/or other finite element codes
Experience with 1-D flow network codes
Experience with CFD software (CFX, FLUENT, etc )
