The Security Alert Specialist (SAS) will be responsible for researching, analyzing and reporting cyber security vulnerabilities and incidents. The SAS will serve as a key member of product cyber security response team and provide guidance and expertise to enhance current processes and activities. . The SAS will interact with product teams across Power & Water to reproduce vulnerabilities, perform root cause analysis and develop solutions to address findings.

Essential Responsibilities

In addition, you will:
Assist product teams in reproducing reported exploits and vulnerabilities

Stay in tune with current threats and vulnerabilities

Work with customers, architects and product development managers to ensure identified vulnerabilities are remediated

Continually assesses existing sources of feed on security vulnerabilities, exploits and incidents and strives to enhance relevance and coverage

Manage vulnerabilities responses, performs detailed vulnerability analysis

Aid in discovery of new vulnerabilities and tracks existing vulnerabilities

Facilitate collaboration between product teams to ensure sharing of lessons learnt

Ensure security considerations stay current with technical advancements and industry best practices

Recommend effective training and security awareness techniques

Actively participate in security forums and workgroups

Gain an understanding of the business and operational challenges


Bachelors of Science Degree from an accredited college or university in Information Security, Computer Science, or Engineering

Minimum of 2 years of experience in assessing vulnerabilities and incidents for a large enterprise

Minimum of 1 year of leading or actively participating in cyber security incident response team

Minimum of 1 year of penetration testing experience

Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in information security domain

Minimum of 3 years of experiencing interacting with product development teams

Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% of the time, as required

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Desired Characteristics

Strong oral and written communication skills

Performed forensic analysis on three or more incidents

Certified security expert – GCFA, CISA, CISSP, CISM, and/or gold or higher GIAC certifications

Knowledge of US DOE, DHS, NERC - CIP, NIST, and other cyber security initiatives related securing critical infrastructures

Cyber security consulting experience (internal or external), preferably performing forensic analysis

Experience dealing with service providers , researchers and other third parties who provide early information on exploits

Project management experience leading or managing simultaneous projects

Experience performing security reviews in an agile environment

Current or recent experience as an ethical hacker

Knowledge of GE Energy Services offerings

Proven success at working with senior engineering leaders and driving change in that environment

Familiarity with risk management philosophy

Performed or actively participated in audits or reviews

Familiarity with SDLC process
