The Lead Professional Band (LPB) Safety and Validation (S&V) Engineer will be responsible for the execution of safety programs including execution of risk analyses and hazard analyses upon safety-critical systems, estalishment of safety requirements, review and acceptance of system engineering, software engineering, hardware engineering and test artifacts, and generation of safety case report validating system safety and fitness for purpose.
The Lead Engineer / Technologist will be responsible to perform tasks as an individual contributor or be responsible for planning, estimating, and controlling the S&V activities associated with a large system requiring a team of S&V Engineers, as required.
In addition you will:
Execute the hazard analysis and risk analysis required to support identification of safety requirements in accordance with business standards and program / product objectives
Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers
Participate on teams assigned to address specific organizational initiatives
Share information and promote open dialogue
Prepare invention disclosures to protect the technology that provides a competitive advantage to the business
Ensure documentary evidence is developed, archived under CM control, and meets certification requirements
Escalate unresolved quality and safety issues to the Project team and Safety Committee
Develop safety plans and validation plans for project support
Be responsible for the independent assessment and reporting of engineering requirements, designs, and verification activities including, but not limited to; Electronic Hardware, Embedded Software, Application Equations, and Block Design
Be responsible for the development of specific applications, generic applications, and generic product safety cases
Bachelor's Degree of Science in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college or university
Minimum of 3 years of experience in Safety and/or Signaling OR minimum of 5 years of experience in safety critical Electronics Design

Master's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an accredited college or university
Strong oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated experience (Professional or Academic) of high order Programming Language
Familiarity with design, test, and analysis of tools and systems
Experience in the design embedded control systems in a high integrity environment such as; Avionics or Train Control
Experience performing hazard analyses of safety-critical products in accordance with IEEE 1483:2000, MIL STD 882C, and/or CENELEC 50126, 50128, and 50129
Experience in the design or analysis of Signaling and/or Train Control Systems
Ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization and external customers
