POSITION PURPOSE -
The Home Depot Supply Chain is improving efficiencies of Inventory Supply Chain - Inventory Planning and Replenishment, which will require significant systems improvements over multiple years. These initiatives will require energetic individuals to lead and develop these system improvements to realize the desired business value.
The Lead IT Developer will be responsible for managing medium to large projects through the full development lifecycle process. They must have a strong and detailed understanding of each task on a large and complex project plan, and the ability to present status and strategy to project and executive leadership. The candidate must have an excellent understanding of the IT project life cycle, trends in the IT landscape and be able to influence IT leadership on streamlining those processes. The Lead Developer has the ability to guide and direct project teams in requirements definition, design, development and testing of complex applications/ programs. Must be able to present ideas to IT review boards and business leadership. The Lead Developer must work closely with architects to ensure proper system design, and ensure highest quality implementations from design through QA to production. The candidate will lead multiple team members and assists other project leads in the day-to-day activities related to project work. Has displayed a developed, strategic view of applications and how they fit into the supply chain space. The Lead Developer must have and be able to promote an appropriate sense of urgency in regard to deliverables and projects, and be able to effectively partner with / lead the business to develop and deliver supply chain solutions.
MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES -
View software packages, products and define, prioritize, plan and implement solutions across multiple complex projects.
Ensure the team comprehends and applies the established processes, policies, standards and procedures.
Provide status reports to Manager and review boards on complex development projects.
Guide and direct project teams in the requirements gathering, design, and development of complex applications/programs.
Ensure compliance and conduct appropriate test reviews as necessary.
NATURE AND SCOPE -
Typically reports to Manager, Information Technology
No associates report to this role on a permanent basis, but requires the technical leadership of a project work team: may select team members and assess capabilities, provide technical training, provide information necessary to meet work, project or program objectives, evaluate program or project performance.
ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must pass the Drug Test.
Must successfully complete any required training or orientation courses.
EDUCATION REQUIRED -
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED.

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

The Lead Developer should be able to interact with the business user to understand and interpret their needs. They must have the ability to present the design at the various technical review boards. They must also understand and support the strategic view of applications and how they fit into the overall retail space. The Lead Developer is accountable for work assignments, progress monitoring and team morale building. They should be able to proactively drive the deliverables; to think, work and contribute beyond defined responsibilities; and to grow and assume additional responsibilities. They should be well-organized with the capacity to multitask and able to work in a fast paced environment independently and as part of a team.
Key functional and technical skills:

The Lead Developer must have and be able to promote an appropriate sense of urgency in regard to deliverables and projects, and be able to effectively partner with / lead the business to develop and deliver IT solutions. Key hands on functional and technical skills:
Experience with forecast and replenishment type processes and/or applications. Familarity with Teradata's DCM application a plus
Experience with Inventory Management type applications or development
Java development with focus on web development (JSP, Servlet, JMS, JDBC, J2EE Security, Struts)
Understanding of standard web frameworks and languages (HTML, CSS, Javacript, AJAX)
Knowledge of standard web service development frameworks and methodologies (SOAP and RESTful)
Experience with standard SQL against Teradata, Oracle, DB2/UDB, Informix, mySQL or SQLServer
Experience with Rich Internet Application Development (HTML5, FLEX, Silverlight)
General proficiency in XML
