As a Lead Interaction/Visual Designer , you will help shape the experience of real-time local shopping from idea to implementation and do everything in your power to delight our end-users, whether they are retailers or shoppers.
Milo is blending online and offline shopping, making it where our customers can buy products online and pick them up in a local store. The Milo environment is fast-paced and every day is different, so you must be comfortable with a role that is continuously evolving to adapt to team and user needs. But, most importantly, you should be someone who likes to have fun and learn new things on a daily basis.
In your role, you would:
Note: this is a hybrid individual contributor/manager role. You will be expected to be a major contributor to design, but also mentor and grow your team.
Drive the user research process and use the information gathered to inform your team's designs Provide insight about user needs to help define requirements for new projects and features, as well as suggest possible projects for development Develop and iterate on sketches, storyboards, specifications, wireframes, task flows, use cases, mock-ups, prototypes - whatever it takes to communicate your designs effectively Work closely with engineers to balance technical constraints with design goals and to ensure that designs are implemented appropriately Be the design expert, which means youre comfortable debating on the pluses and minuses of particular designs, as well as leading the conversation as to why one design is better than another Develop and hone the UX and UI skills of your design team (3-5 people)

Our ideal candidate is comfortable collaborating closely with engineers to solve interesting problems that involve more than just crafting buttons and widgets. A passion for understanding and fulfilling customers needs and the analytical ability to measure success in achieving that goal is a must.
Be able to thrive in a flexible design process that allows for rapid iteration and frequent launches Experience with Commerce/ecommerce, mobile, retail, hardware and software, led total customer experience efforts. Be a design leader, strategic thinker, capable of creating and presenting idea for the future, prototyping (can layout vision, clickable prototypes), less reactive. In addition to being a great mentor and has a proven track record of motivating and inspiring people. Have a mix of interaction and visual design. Need to have strong opinions about design and have a strong visual sense however, would opt more for interaction vs visual. Industrial experience (degree in industrial design but working with a company that has done design for other companies) is a nice to have. Proficiency with creating high-fidelity designs in Adobe suite or comparable products A portfolio that demonstrates clean, simple, thoughtful design and strategic problem solving Bachelors education or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, or related fields Experience with designing for local or applications is a major plus Experience with user research methodologies, web analytics, a/b testing, and data analysis Infoviz junkies, data geeks, Nerf gun enthusiasts, coffee addicts, video gamers, and dog lovers are especially welcome
