This position is responsible for RJRT product quality including sampling, testing, rework, visual standards, trending and reporting. This includes in-process as well as finished product quality. This role is responsible for managing the isolation of suspected non-conforming product, the process for determining extent, and final disposition of product across all functional areas in RJRT Manufacturing. This individual serves as the liaison for product quality activities performed by associated third party providers.
This role requires interaction and collaboration with many areas of the business, including but not limited to, RJRT Operations, R&D Product Development and Pilot Plant, Supply Chain/Distribution, and Production Planning.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, and develop direct reports in a high performance culture via goal setting, coaching, performance evaluation, and development plans
- Manage, develop and direct third party provider activities to ensure conformance to quality systems and supplier metrics
- Manage operations of Rework and retain storage
- Accountable for adherence to FDA cGMP and HACCP plan in assigned areas
- Active participant during Product recall incidents, internal/external audits, corrective action investigations, and regulatory inspections
- Plan and conduct routine studies, as appropriate, for enhancements/improvements to quality systems.
MS degree (entry); BS degree with relevant experience (2+ yrs); Associate degree with relevant experience (5+ yrs); High School diploma or equivalent with relevant experience (7+ yrs).
Expertise in quality management systems preferred
Knowledge of tobacco manufacturing processes, food GMP (a plus)
Willingness to acquire and maintain appropriate quality certifications for role (CQE, CQA, Six Sigma, HACCP auditor) or currently certified as such
Ability to apply standard quality theories, concepts and techniques
Strong quality background (sampling, testing, calibration, metrology, qualification, validation, principles and practical application) or technical background with capacity to gain Quality background via experience, training, and certification
Effectively manage the work of others
Strong interpersonal skills; exercise sound, risk-based decision making
Strong computer, written and oral communication skills
Expertise with Microsoft Office, quality data systems, and essential computer applications
Ability to apply problem solving tools, root cause analysis, Plan-Do-Check-Act, CAPA
Willingness to acquire and maintain appropriate quality certifications for role (CQE, CQA, Six Sigma, HACCP auditor, etc). Ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal oversight.
Results oriented with the ability to prioritize and multi-task to meet Manufacturing and contract reporting deadlines.
