Serves as technical expert for the Events application including code, interfaces and data flows. Responsible for the maintenance. Coordinates with project teams and analysts to translate specifications into new or enhanced application solutions.Demonstrates command of multiple programming languages, basic systems analysis techniques, testing, debugging, documentation standards, file design, storage and interfacing. Maintains peer relationships across IT areas to support effective implementation

Essential Responsibilities
The Event application is a web based solution used globally to host events for GE and relied upon to host the Global Leadership Meeting, Annual Shareholders meeting, Olympics, Crotonville Learning courses and large number of independent events. Role focus is to continue growth across GE as Events becomes the application of choice. Searching for someone who can motivate our team of programmers to simplify and build a best in class application.
  • Have responsibility in setting the IT strategy for the application, evaluating best development strategies and potential frameworks to develop solutions
  • Understanding of different software development techniques and when to utilize them (waterfall, agile, scrum, etc.) that focus on eliminating defects and producing better application
  • Partner with our clients across GE to understand their needs and have passion for building and growing Event’s reach across GE
  • Lead a team of software developers to create best-in-class application while having the ability to energize new customer bases
  • Responsible for staying current in technologies that our clients can leverage in their day to day activities
  • Ability to handle multiple projects at the same time, ensuring deadlines are met while driving best practices across the development team
  • Understanding of vendor management, web based applications and operational support
  • Work closely with external vendors to drive GE timelines and priorities

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Science or other related discipline (or a minimum 5 years of hands-on, professional IT work experience)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience executing high profile projects
  • Minimum 2 years of experience managing development teams
  • Minimum 2 years of web development experience (such as Java, JQueryUI, Python, etc)
  • Minimum 2 years of database experience (such as Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server, etc) ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be willing to work out of an office in Visteon Village, Wayne County, Van Buren Township (near Ann Arbor / Detroit)
