POSITION PURPOSE -
The Lead Systems Release Engineering for Online Technology is at the IT epicenter of growth in our $70 billion company. You will be responsible for effectively planning and leading engineering teams that build and operate the ecommerce platform for the fifth largest retailer in the world. Lead and mentor a team of engineers
Manage technical operations for online technology
Design and review systems architecture for new and existing solutions

The Lead Systems Engineer develops, maintains and supports The Home Depot's complex technical infrastructures, hardware, and system software components. Operates as a team lead providing expert technical direction to team members. Interface with Business Stakeholders on all complex projects. Ability to present ideas and take charge of projects. Update manager on all escalated issues.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES -
Manage installation, maintenance and support of complex technical infrastructures, hardware, and system software components.

Manage and tune platforms to ensure expected availability and performance levels are achieved.

Provide expert technical direction to Sr. System, System, Associate Engineers and contractors.

Manage store & SSC engineering and roll-out implementation.

Perform root cause analysis for service interruption recovery; create preventative measures on complex projects.

Interface with Business Stakeholders on all applicable projects. Update manager on all escalated issues.

NATURE AND SCOPE -
Typically reports to Manager, Information Technology

No associates report to this role on a permanent basis, but requires the leadership of a work group: assign and review work, train and contribute to performance appraisal (but not hiring, firing or disciplinary action).

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -
ESSENTIAL SKILLS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -

EDUCATION REQUIRED -
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED.

YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE - 5

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -
Frequent periods are spent standing or sitting in the same location with some opportunity to move about; occasionally there may be a need to stoop or lift light objects (typically less than 8 pounds).

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS -
Expert Knowledge and experience with computer hardware, operating systems and system software.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -
BS Computer Science or related field, MS a plus.
7+ years' experience is preferred.
Extensive experience building, deploying, operating, and supporting distributed applications and infrastructure
Web development or shell scripting (Java, JACL, Bash, KSH, JavaScript)
ITIL knowledge or Certification; Incident and Problem Management
Proven track record for on time project delivery
Deep understanding of scripting solutions for deployment of web applications
Linux / Unix (Red Hat, AIX)
Troubleshooting multi-tier web problems across platforms
Strong communication skills

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES -
Expert knowledge of the PC (hardware and software) is essential.

Ability to listen to what the user is saying and then interpret what he/ she is trying to get across.

The ability to work autonomously and with a diverse team.

Ability to communicate at all levels.

Ability to present ideas and take charge of projects.
