As an IT professional you have expert knowledge in one or more programming languages or databases. Because of your excellent understanding of the entire project life cycle, you have the ability to direct project teams in the gathering, design, and development of complex applications/programs. This position is operationally focused with a primary responsibility of ensuring availability of networking services for the enterprise. Associate will leverage tools which monitor central and remote systems to gauge the health of voice and data communications. Identified issues will be addressed directly or resolved in partnership with engineering or third parties. Associate will address escalations from Network Operations via a standard process of trouble ticket creation and management, performing initial fault isolation, issue remediation and issue root cause follow-up. This position will require ability to perform diagnostic task with various technologies in order to resolve issues. Associate will participate in high severity outage situations to assist in service restoration. Associate will work with various teams to achieve the desired Service Levels for network services.

The Lead System Specialist will help create and review run books and ensure run books are up-to-date, ensure production implementations meet operational standards, help ensure junior associates have been properly trained and are ready to support the organization, review and provide operational performance reports, reduce number of tickets via root cause analysis, ensure components have adequate monitoring. Possess broad knowledge and have experience troubleshooting various networking technologies: network LAN (switching, VLANs, layer 3 routing), wireless (controllers, APs, Management tools / Heat Maps), routing (BGP, OSPF, HSRP, access list), WAN and access technologies (T1, metro Ethernet, DS3, broadband, VPN connections, etc.). Proficient in network security infrastructure and load balancing technologies.

Monitor, maintain, and support end-user hardware and software applications. This may include evaluating new systems during the pre-implementation phases, supporting the customers, resolving user problems, and training the end-users and teammates.

Assesses financial effect of wiring, staging and installation costs, new equipment purchases, and project changes.
Ensures proper asset management for all items being installed and uninstalled.
Oversees the computer maintenance expense line on store profit and loss statements to ensure that expenses are charged appropriately in accordance with GAAP and Home Depot policies.
Reviews monthly profit and loss statements for IS department and analyzes expenditures vis-a-vis their budget.
Conducts post project reviews to determine financial and operational success.
Selects, develops, and motivates assigned staff.

Typically reports to an IS Controller.
Direct reports typically include one or more Senior Systems Specialists, Systems Specialists and Associate System Specialists.

The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.


Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Preferred technical qualifications include experience with: Voice (SIP, VoIP, PBX and voice endpoints), firewalls and security infrastructure, load balancers, DNS, DHCP, Scripting capabilities.

Preferred soft skills include: Ability to relate complex ideas in simple terms. Education - 2 year degree or comparable work experience in related field.

Project management experience.
