The lead registered nuclear medicine tech is competent to and/or performs all routine and specialized nuclear examinations, supportive activities as necessary in the daly operations and objectives of Wellmont Health System. The lead technologist must have a clear understanding of all monitoring systems and be able to collect data, provide data or reports to necessary officials. The lead technologist must have a clear understanding of all Joint Commission and other regulatory agency standards and requirements for department. He/she must be able to operate all nuclear medicine equipment and other related non-nuclear equipment properly to produce nuclear scans and/or related images. This would include being able to accurately administer radiopharmaceuticals by various IV routes; attach and/or adjust supportive devices to move or restrict patient movement, preventing accidental patient injury; select proper equipment and machine factor(s) as necessary to produce nuclear medicine exams that are consistent with accepted standards; provide radiation protective devices to patients, self and staff in accordance with radiation safety standards. This person must demonstrate superior patient care, showing compassion and verbally walking them through all the processes so they will understand what is going on.

Must have a minimum of three years experience working as a radiology tech and/or nuclear medicine tech and preferred experience in a supervisory type role. Phlebotomy certification required. IV experience a plus.

Successful completion of an AMA approved Radiologic Technology School and/or Valid registry/certificationby the American registry of Radiologic Technologists in Nuclear Medicine. [A.R.R.T. (R), Society of Nuclear Medicine (C.N.M.T.),

CPR is required for any RN, LPN, PCT, Patient Transporter or other direct patient care provider. Emergency Department, Intensive Care Units, PACU, Medical Emergency Team and Anesthesia require ACLS. Pediatrics, SICU, Emergency Department and Medical Emergency Team also require PALS
