Position Description:
The Lead Utilities Technician will have overall accountability and responsibility for the maintenance and repair of medium voltage distribution systems, the generation and distribution of steam, compressed air, vacuum, water, and chilled water. Provides support for utilities-related process control and HVAC systems in the manufacturing environment.

The Lead Utilities Technician will manage and participate in the maintenance and repair of all electrical systems and equipment beginning at the electrical utility service through the motor control centers located within the manufacturing plants. The incumbent will ensure that all OSHA, NEC, NFPA, Factory Mutual operational and safety requirements are met related to the equipment and processes. The incumbent will manage and participate in control system modifications, upgrades and troubleshooting efforts. The incumbent will demonstrate knowledge of process control systems and utility operations.

Plan, schedule, manage and document preventive and planned maintenance events related to electrical gear.
Inspect, clean and test electrical gear as required by codes, standards and insurance requirements and document findings.
Provide technical oversight and planning of work performed by contract electricians engaged in maintenance and repair of electrical distribution systems.
Manage and participate in troubleshooting and repair of equipment.
Interface with internal electrical subject matter experts to ensure optimization of efficient delivery systems and code compliance.
Demonstrate proficiency with electrical/electronic diagnostic equipment common to the discipline.
Contribute to project teams related to facility electrical systems.
Monitor for potential obsolescence issues related to company electrical distribution systems and report mitigation costs and timing to management.
Safely troubleshoot all electrical issues with a sense of urgency to ensure uninterrupted power supply to operating production facilities and data centers.
Provide cross-shift assistance as required responding and resolving unexpected problems related to electricity availability.
Demonstrate a working knowledge of emergency power supply systems; maintenance and regulatory requirements.
Interpret and utilize electrical schematics, P&IDs, instrumentation loop sheets and specifications for troubleshooting.
Demonstrate knowledge of process control systems and lend support for maintenance and troubleshooting of related systems as necessary to optimize utility equipment operations.
Demonstrate the ability to provide technical support to utilities operators on a day-to-day basis.
Monitor and maintain operating data of utility and electrical equipment and generate reports as required by management, regulatory authorities and insurance carriers.
Safely operate industrial vehicles, use ladders and powered lifts to heights of 40 feet
Drive compliance to others working in and for the utilities department.
Perform procedures and work assignments in keeping with company policy, safety and Good Manufacturing Practice standards.
Effectively communicate with peers and management.
Perform other duties not specifically listed herein but as determined by management.

Position Qualification:
Position Qualifications:
A.A.S. in Electronics, Electrical or Instrumentation Technology or A.A.S in a related field or military equivalent.

Knowledge and training in NFPA 70 and NFPA 70E.

Knowledge and experience with Allen-Bradley PLC control systems.

Excellent computer skills in applications such as: Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.

Willingness to be on call and respond as required 24 hours per day, 7 days per week including holidays.

Ability to work well independently and in a team environment.

Must be at least 21 years of age.

Preferred Additional Qualifications:
Five years’ electrical or controls experience in a manufacturing and/or utilities maintenance environment.
Experience with compressed air, steam generation and plant vacuum systems.
Experience in the operation and maintenance of HVAC and chilled water systems.
Knowledge and experience with NovaTech control systems.
Experience with Eaton VCP, VCPW and DS breakers.
State issued electrical license.
