Primary duties of the Major Gifts Officer include establishing and managing effective relationships with major donor prospects and existing major donors. The Major Gifts Officer is responsible for building and enhancing relationships with approximately 150 donor prospects, designing and implementing prospect cultivation and solicitation strategies using work plans and stewardship plans, organizing and leading volunteers, and securing private philanthropic gifts in support of the mission of the College. In addition, the Major Gifts Officer will focus on enhancing the College's mission to engage with alumni from diverse backgrounds.
Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree with two to four years fundraising experience is required; A Master's degree with two to four years fundraising experience and at least two years of major gifts experience is preferred. Candidates should have proven successful experience in individual fund raising and in dealing with major gift prospects, a commitment to higher education, a strong desire to associate with Union College and a willingness to champion the college's mission, an understanding of college culture and the college's decision making and program development processes. Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends is also required.
