Basic Function and Responsibility

To assist in the development and coordination of academic support programs by (1) conducting research, (2) performing assessment, and (3) presenting/training on academic programs

Characteristic Duties

Conduct program assessment to develop and evaluate learning outcomes
Effectively research various learning skills strategies and academic best practices
Compile reports and proposals for academic support programs
Co-conduct and/or supervise local SI training workshops, as well as travel to conduct trainings at other universities
Train and supervise student staff members assigned to the Academic Support and
Work with faculty who are participating in or are interested in learning skills
Develop, manage, and/or assist academic support programs to help students be successful at the university level
Assist in planning and participate in the bi-annual International Conference on Supplemental Instruction
Mentor students/staff to provide peer group and individual instruction in study and learning skills areas
Perform related duties as assigned

Supervision Received Direction is received from the Director, Student Learning Center.
Supervision Exercised

Functional supervision is exercised over other professional and student staff members assigned to Academic Support and Mentoring

Minimum Qualifications

A Master's degree in Education, Psychology or related area, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary.
Two to three years of teaching experience or related behavioral science work in learning skills is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s or Doctoral degree
Experience working in higher education
Program assessment experience
Experience conducting training workshops or making presentations
Experience publishing articles for juried journals
Educational background and experience in research methods and statistics
