Position: Lecturer or Assistant Instructor, dependent on qualifications, in Sports Video Production at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, College of Mass Communication and Media Arts, Department of Radio, Television, and Digital Media.

Qualifications: Position requires a minimum of 5 years of recent experience as a professional director/producer of live sporting events. Skills should include planning, setup, switching, graphics, audio, lighting, camera operations, and post-production. A Masters' degree is desirable; however, in exceptional cases, a Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 15 years of regional/national professional experience in directing/producing live sporting events that is directly related to teaching responsibilities will be considered.

Duties: The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in single camera, multi-camera, live event production, and post-production. The candidate will supervise student field productions, and will mentor students. Teaching load is 4 courses per semester or combination of equivalent assigned duties. The successful candidate is expected to become an active member of the department.

Department: Established in 1957, The Department of Radio, Television, and Digital Media has close to 300 undergraduates and 20 full-time faculty members who are accomplished scholars, professionals and artists. Students in the Department combine the analytical with hands-on practice to become cutting edge media producers and scholars. Our faculty guide students not only in the use of the latest technologies, but also in developing an understanding of the social, political and economic contexts of the media they produce and analyze. RTD students can concentrate in several areas of study: Digital Media Arts and Animation, Electronic Journalism, Media Industries, Radio/Audio Production, Sports Media, and Video Production. Students also broaden their knowledge of the field through elective courses in Media Studies. A Television Studies minor is also offered. Faculty and students work closely with the University's public radio and television stations, WSIU-FM & WSIU-TV, which are located in the College, as well as with the Department of Cinema & Photography and the School of Journalism. Faculty members participate in the graduate programs of the College at the MS, MA, MFA, and PhD levels.

Effective Date of Appointment:
Appointment begins August 16, 2013, with reappointment possible pending availability of funds, needs and satisfactory performance.
