The Center for English as a Second Language (CESL), SIU Carbondale is seeking one or more individuals for full-time non-tenure-track teaching positions in the intensive English program.
Rank: Lecturer (non-tenure-track); term appointment with possibility of summer employment; renewable contingent on performance and programmatic need.
MA or higher degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or a related field
Two years ESL/EFL experience (TA or faculty)
One year experience teaching in an intensive English program (IEP)
Demonstrated experience in teaching a variety of ESL courses, levels and skills
Exceptional English language fluency and communication skills
ESL/EFL teacher training/mentoring skills
Course/curriculum development skill and experience
Proficiency in a second language
International teaching experience
Demonstrated willingness to work in new media
Experience in giving feedback in all skills
Start Date: August 16, 2013
- Teach up to 20 hours per week
- Assume coordination and program support roles
- Provide leadership/mentoring to new instructors
- Participate in developing courses and curriculum
- Develop course materials
- Evaluate textbooks and materials
- Attend teachers' meetings
- Maintain office hours
- Participate in IEP activities
- Proctor TOEFL and other diagnostic tests
- Other duties, as assigned
