The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) seeks candidates for two Instructor positions, beginning with the 2013-2014 academic year. The primary purpose of these positions is to improve the educational experience for undergraduate students enrolled in our Mechanical Engineering (ME) and Aerospace Engineering (AE) programs. Consequently, each successful candidate will be expected to assume the following responsibilities:
1. Serve as Instructor for six required undergraduate courses per year, including summer sessions. These courses are expected to be primarily at the sophomore and junior level and may include Thermodynamics (MAE 204), Dynamics (EAS208), Fluid Mechanics (MAE335), MAE Laboratory 1 (MAE334), and MAE Laboratory 2 (MAE 338), Dynamic Systems (MAE 340), Machines and Mechanisms (MAE 311), Manufacturing Processes (MAE 364) and Design Project (MAE 494).
2. Design and implement plans for industry internships, Student Excellence initiatives, and diversity enhancement in collaboration with the MAE undergraduate studies committee. These plans should be consistent with the MAE ABET objectives and Realizing UB 2020.
Minimum Qualifications (Position): The candidate should have a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering or have reasonable expectations of completing such a degree program within the 2013-2014 academic year.
Experience in teaching large undergraduate courses, such as those listed above, is preferred.
