The School of Education and Human Development at the University of Southern Maine is seeking applicants for a Lecturer position for the Counselor Education Program in the Mental Health Counseling specialty area. The USM Counselor Education program is accredited by both CACREP (school and clinical mental health) and CORE (rehabilitation).

Qualifications: Required: Must have an earned doctorate in counselor education or closely related field prior to September 1, 2013; credentialed or eligible for licensure in the state of Maine as clinical mental health counselor (LCPC); have experience in preventive, clinical, and crisis mental health counseling as a counselor and supervisor. Preferred: Experience working with programs that promote multicultural counseling competence; experience with college teaching at the graduate level; expertise in substance use; graduated from a CACREP accredited program; and is either CRC eligible or CRC completion within a year. E vidence of commitment to diversity, student success and active learning, and community engagement .

The successful candidate will be expected to: 1) teach a range of courses in the program, including core coursework, Mental Health specialty classes, and supervisory lab courses 2) engage in Clinical Mental Health advising, and 3) be actively involved in service to the college, university, and the profession. The salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
