South Bay High School (SBHS) is a non-public High School looking for an experienced Licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) or Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA). This position has primary responsibility for occupational therapy to students qualifying through their IEP. The Occupational Therapist (OT) provides occupational therapy services (including assessment and evaluation) to clients referred. Occupational therapy services are provided under contract to South Bay High School. Part-time opportunity: 20hrs per week / 200 days per calendar school year – flexible to Full-Time work Day time hours: while school is in session I. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education Must have obtained degree from college or university accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupation Therapy Education (ACOTE) 1.BA degree in Occupational Therapy or related field plus four [4] years direct service experience in the mental health field and/or residential setting working with adolescents with emotional disturbances -or- 2.MA degree in Occupational Therapy or related field plus two [2] years direct service experience in the mental health field and/or residential setting working with adolescents with emotional disturbances License or Certification Must be registered with the California Board of Occupational Therapy [BOT] as a: 1.Licensed Occupational Therapist [OT] -or- 2.Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant [COTA] 3.SIPT – Sensory Integration and Praxis Test, preferred 4.SCERTS – Social Communication, Emotional Regulations and Transactional Support, preferred 5.Valid California Driver's License and automobile insurance Experience and Specialized Skills 1.Ability to interact and communicate both verbally and in writing in IEP meetings with seriously emotionally disturbed children, adolescents and their parents, foster parents, care takers, schools, other staff, physicians, county agencies, other health care providers and the public. 2.Demonstrated understanding of serious emotional disorders and their treatment. 3.Demonstrated leadership, organization and management skills.
