Rogers Memorial Hospital, the area’s leader in behavioral health services, is looking for a pool Licensed Practical Nurse to join our Oconomowoc location on all shifts. There are two level options available: Pool 1 requires a minimum of four (4) shifts per 28 day schedule. One (1) of these shifts must occur on a weekend. Pool 2 requires eight (8) shifts per 28-day schedule. Two (2) of these shifts must occur on a weekend.
The licensed practical nurse performs basic nursing activities in the care of patients so they may achieve or regain, and then maintain, the maximum possible physical, emotional and social function. Role functions are limited and governed by the Wisconsin Nurse Practice Act, the Wisconsin Administrative Code, Standards for Nursing Practice, and the corresponding policies and procedures of Rogers Memorial Hospital.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:1. Assist with patient care:
A. Observe, document and monitor each patient’s psychiatric and physical changes and responses to treatment under the direction of the registered nurse (RN).
B. Identify potential patient care problems, abrupt changes or impending instability in the patient’s condition, and exercise appropriate intervention leadership to prevent adverse patient outcomes.
C. Assist patient care based on established care plans, Hospital policies and procedures, and unit standards of care, incorporating the patient’s age-specific and cultural needs as appropriate.
D. Demonstrate safe and correct medication administration by:
E. Know the various program schedules and assist patients in maintaining these schedules.
F. Care for patients’ hygienic and physical environment needs and for patients’ personal belongings.
G. Employ established systems to monitor the location of all patients in assigned areas.
H. Accompany patients to meals, monitor their behavior, and record their food intake, as directed.
2. Act as an advocate for patients/residents.
3. Assist in the patient orientation process.
4. Adhere to the nursing department and Hospital’s Standards of Nursing Practice and Standards of Patient Care.
5. Participate in projects, tasks and continuing education opportunities to improve professional skills and unit/department systems.
6. Actively assist in patient milieu
7. Other duties as assigned.

Licensed Practical Nurse licensed by Wisconsin State Board of Nursing . License must be in ‘good standing’ with the Wisconsin State Board of Nursing . Previous psychiatric experience with children, adolescents and adults is preferred.
The ideal candidate will bring a patient-centered approach to care along with creative problem-solving skills and strong interpersonal skills. He/she must be able to professionally interact with individuals across the developmental continuum, with empathy towards mental health.
