Under the general direction of the Aquatic Supervisor. Performs routine public contact and safety work in teaching swimming lessons and serving as a pool lifeguard.
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
1.Teaches swimming lessons according to a prescribed routine and curriculum.
2.Tests program participants for swimming skill levels; passes participants for participation in more advanced classes.
3.Monitors the use of the swimming pool; enforces safety rules.
4.Follows prescribed procedures in making pool rescues.
5.Assists in the maintenance of the swimming pool.
6.Monitors and maintains pool filtration system.
7.Monitors pool water chemistry through testing of water samples and adjusts chemistry as needed to maintain standards.
8.Responds to public inquiries about aquatics programs made by telephone, correspondence, or during public meetings.
9.Officiates at swim meets.
10.Serves as a member of various employee committees, as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a general equivalency diploma and experience which demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work.
Must possess a valid CPR certification, First Aid, Lifeguard Training certification, Water Safety Instructor certificate
