Summary:
Chenega Federal Systems is currently seeking highly motivated, physically fit, operationally skilled, culturally astute and qualified linguists to work in various locations in the continental United States, the Middle East, or other worldwide locations.- We are currently recruiting linguists with the following language skills particularly in combinations: Arabic, Arabic-Yemeni, and Arabic with knowledge of various less common languages/dialects: Tamacheck, Tuareg, Tamahaq, and Hausa. Also seeking speakers of French/Arabic (N. African), Dari, Dari/Pashtu, Farsi, Kurdish, Pashtu, Persian, Somali, Uzbek, Turkmen etc. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Employees hired for these positions must be able to walk/hike/run/climb unassisted; sometimes for great distances or for extended periods of time across uneven terrain. The employee may be required to bend, stoop, crawl, jump, etc. while sometimes carrying more than 20 pounds of personal sustainment gear. The employee may be required to climb onto, over, into and out of and or travel in various vehicles, aircraft, water craft, lodgings etc. Employees will be responsible for the following while moving and/or while stationary:

  • Provide translation, transcription, and language related services in a variety of forms including, but not limited to: transcripts, gists, reports, oral recordings, posters, signs, etc.
  • Provide language and cultural training to military forces and civilian personnel via traditional or ad hoc methods using written materials, technology based instruction, distributed learning services, or OJT
  • Assist with training exercises providing realistic language experiences and/or supporting the interpretation of verbal or written communication
  • Other duties as assigned or as required by the government client

Minimum Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or abilities required.

-

Education and/or Experience: Must understand the culture of the local population and of the speakers of the target language, to include: customs, social, religious, political and economic dynamics of the country and the populace. Must be willing to work and/or reside in a field environment (outdoors) in inclement weather, including (i.e., rain - sleet - snow - sun - wind - etc.). Must be able to meet the physical and mental demands required by the client Must be fluent in English and the target language to include the ability to read, write, speak, and understand both languages

  • CAT II linguists must have some prior service experience working for U.S. military or other equivalent Government/DoD organization
  • Experience working with Special Operations or significant knowledge of Special Operations is desirable
  • Linguists must be able to produce idiomatic translations of non-technical material using correct syntax and expression navigating from English to target language and vice versa.
  • Linguists must pass an extensive foreign language test and or English tests
  • Linguists must be able to write and speak target languages using clear and concise grammar and pronunciation.
  • Linguists must be able to conduct consecutive, accurate translations/interpretation of on-going conversations/activities
  • Linguists must have 3 or more years of experience in translation or language related services
  • Candidates must pass language tests in target language and English, medical screenings, drug testing and satisfy all relevant security requirements. Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) proficiency level 3/3/3 in English and target language. Must demonstrate ability to accurately perform consecutive interpretation, written translation of general and technical texts, and written transcription of aural communications from English into the target language and vice versa.

  • Employees must be knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Employees must be knowledgeable in Distributed Learning and E-learning, Web-based language learning and testing programs
