A SERP (Strategic Education Research Partnership) team that includes members of Harvard University in conjunction with Baltimore City Public Schools is conducting a two-year Reading for Understanding study supported by the Institute of Education Sciences. The grant is titled Catalyzing Comprehension through Discussion and Debate (CCDD) and aims to improve reading comprehension among students in the middle grades. The project involves partnerships with Baltimore City Public Schools, and the implementation and evaluation of the program called Word Generation-Enhanced. The position of Temporary Field Research Assistant involves assisting with the assessment of students using a variety of tests, and the gathering of implementation data and student outcome data in 4th through 7th grade classrooms in the Baltimore City Public Schools.

SERP and the Harvard Graduate School of Education are seeking several candidates to help with the following tasks on a temporary basis (10 to 30 hours per week) for the following dates: April 9-early June, 2013. Mandatory training will be held Tuesday, April 9, Wednesday, April 10, and Friday, April 12, 2013. A Harvard University CITI Course must be completed by April 9. This is an online course that you will be paid to take.

Interviews will be held March 11, 12, 13 & 14. Interviews scheduled and slots filled on a first-come basis.

Responsibilities:
-Visit schools to assess their technological readiness for administering computer-based tests
-Assist in the delivery, administration, and returning of a series of assessments in schools
-Collect and analyze audio recordings from classroom observations

Pay is hourly and commensurate with experience and education (approximately $20/hr). Work will occur mainly during regular school hours, weekdays between 7:00am-3:45pm. Short-term work, no benefits offered.
