Provides loan accounting services to Farm Credit Mid-America offices by analyzing requests or reconciling loan related accounts, creating accounting system entries using the appropriate procedures and accounting principles and ensuring the work is accurate. This position is expected to resolve a wide variety of loan accounting problems and to identify accounting problems or issues and refer these to Loan Accountant or Director for resolution and to organize and prioritize work to meet processing deadlines.

1. Analysis of field office accounting requests or reconciliation of loan related accounts.

2. Communicate effectively with external customers, credit officers, field office personnel, central office personnel and AgriBank and outside vendors to assure loan activity processed is accounted in an accurate and timely manner.

3. Preparing accounting entries involving complex calculations and transactions.

4. Review completed accounting entries for accuracy.

5. Acquire and maintain expertise in accounting system and association practices to provide technical support to field office staff on accounting issues.

6. Participate and support team activities to maintain and improve performance of their work section.

7. Participate actively in team meetings to support the Director and identify issues for discussion and training.

8. Represents and communicates the mission and values of Farm Credit Mid-America and complies with its conduct policy, security policy and confidentiality expectations

Loan Acccountant Trainee
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education and Experience
This is a trainee level position. 1) High School diploma plus 2 years loan accounting experience ; or 2) Associate’s Degree in Accounting plus 1 year accounting experience; or 3) Associate’s Degree in Accounting with intent to complete Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting; or 4) Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.

1) High School diploma plus 4 years loan accounting experience including 1 year FCMA experience; or 2) Associate’s Degree in Accounting plus 1 year loan accounting experience; or 3) Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
