Retail Merchandiser

Contractors will contribute to overall client and brand value by creating excellence in the product presentation within retail environments. This is accomplished by reflecting the individual character of product lines by adhering to brand standards, engaging with customers, driving sales; creating the highest level of sell-through for the clients.

Contract Duties Include:
  • Create effective merchandising that attracts, engages and connects with customers to influence and encourage purchase decisions
  • Ensure products are displayed in proper location according to product presentation guide or plan-o-gram
  • Arrange fixtures to be placed in appropriate locations and are facing the proper direction
  • Organize and assemble promotional, seasonal or specific set-ups
  • Update and position current signage and graphics
  • Set mannequins and forms featuring key items as instructed
  • Initiate merchandising interpretations following standards and guidelines to meet client needs
  • Ensure apparel is properly folded or hung according to client standards
  • Check products to ensure they properly tagged, tucked and/or concealed
  • Ensure specific SKUs are represented on the sales floor per client directive
  • Awareness of merchandising transitions and flow of customers, keeping aisles clear of debris or clutter
  • Ensure products are well stocked and filled on a routine basis
Maintenance and Cleaning
  • Maintain fixtures, mannequins and props, ensuring they are clean and good working order
  • Ensure products are clean and in pristine condition
  • Clean, dust and ensure fixtures, shelves and tables are in superior working order
  • Clean glass surfaces surrounding products
  • Ensure floors are clean and free of debris
  • Schedule visits up to one month in advance
  • Check and update schedules on a weekly basis
  • Set contract schedule and adhere to schedule
  • Properly document store visit
  • Report via electronic communications
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting
  • Take proper before, during and after photographs per client standards
  • Prepare evaluation of current and future projects communicating unresolved issues or specific challenges in meeting expectations of implementation
Communications and Relationships
  • Assume positive intent seeking understanding first, followed by appropriate action
  • Maintain positive attitude and professional relationship toward customers and store personnel, processes and Franklin Retail
  • Contractor is responsible for continuous, effective communication with Franklin Retail
  • Contractor will participate in all client training programs and stay current with current clients and consumer needs
  • Contractor will build proactive relationship with site managers and outline intended plan for visit
  • Review stores and gain assessments from site managers
  • Prepare and plan for areas of focus in future visits
  • Ability to elevate issues as needed following proper protocol, alerting the district manager
  • Willingness to travel to within designated region for contract coverage
Hardware Requirements
  • Contractor must have high speed internet connection and ability to open .doc, .pdf and .xls files.
  • Ability to download large files for project directives
  • Must own a digital camera or smartphone with integrated digital camera
  • Contractor must own personal laptop, desktop or tablet
  • Contractor must provide all tools required by clients including, but not limited to: screwdrivers, allen wrench set, cloths for cleaning, and cleaning supplies
Physical Contract Abilities Required
  • Standing, walking – ability to be on your feet for hours at a time
  • Position self to move; stooping, or kneeling
  • Occasionally moves parts of fixtures weighing up to 40 pounds
  • Reaching
  • Occasionally ascends and descends ladders to service fixtures
Professional Attributes
  • Present self in store in either client apparel or non-competitor professional apparel
  • No tee shirts with inappropriate graphics or words
  • No jeans, shorts, caps, hats, crop tops, tank tops, spaghetti straps or open toe shoes
  • No smoking within 200’ of store
  • No chewing gum, eating or drinking on sales floor
Contractor qualifications
  • Must have or be willing to obtain EIN
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Prefer previous apparel merchandising
  • Prefer 1 year or more of retail merchandising
