Required Skills
Experience working directly with business customers to understand business needs and to provide excellent customer service. Minimum of 5-year experience.
Experience gathering, evaluating and documenting data system-related business requirements. Minimum of 5-year experience.
MS SQL Server database administration experience - not only system DBA skills but also application DBA skills. Minimum of 5-year experience.
Experience with Transact-SQL (TSQL) and SQL Profiler. Minimum of 5-year experience.
Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) skills. Minimum of 2 years.
SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) skills highly desirable.
Current Oracle database administration and PL/SQL experience.
Oracle DBA skills are highly desirable. Minimum of 3-year experience.
Establish and maintain physical database structures to meet the data and processing requirements of all accessing applications.
Monitor and adjust the performance of the application databases.
Provide problem resolution, support, and diagnosis for client's databases and the applications using them.
Participate in application design reviews of new development that utilizes database technology.
Ensure appropriate backup and recovery capabilities for all clients' databases.
Monitor and provide timely database capacity information to platform and applications personnel to ensure adequate storage, network, and processing capacities are maintained.
Participate in the research of hardware and software required to support the database activities/needs of the application development environment.
Assist in the implementation and maintenance of an integrated set of distributed database facility architectures, tools and techniques required for end user and application development.
Analyze, define, and identify database support requirements, consistent with corporate strategic information technology planning, to meet anticipated needs.
Assist in the evaluation, testing, and implementation of new or changed DBMS facilities.
Monitor the performance of the DBMS environments and provide recommendations for tuning them.
Develop and implement effective methods that improve and enhance accessibility to DHS databases.
Assist in the development and implementation of standards and procedures that improve and enhance the integration and operation of the DBMS environments.
Develop and conduct training on database standards and procedures and on program products for the database environment.
Consult on the use of program products which are utilized in the database environment (development tools, access languages, dictionaries, etc.).
Participate in the assessment and selection of specific facilities/tools/utilities.
Participate in the acquisition and implementation of new facilities/tools/utilities and upgrades.
Become the technical expert regarding the tools and techniques implemented within department to support applications development.
Monitor and adjust the performance of the installed tools.
Routinely maintain the facilities/tools/utilities and associated procedures.
