Job Purpose The Strategic Technologist is responsible for translating customers ’ business needs into technical solutions in the domains of network, infrastructure and cloud solutions. The Strategic Technologist will also provide support to product management initiatives, sales activities and partner solution development initiatives. In addition, the Strategic Technologist Is a “visionary ” who plays a key role setting the direction of EXCEL ’s technology solutions offerings. The Strategic Technologist will perform pre- sales engineering, architectural design and implementation support to enhance sales productivity and deal flow by securing the “technical close ” in complex solutions.

Duties: With an overall solution in mind, the Strategic Technologist will: Research, evaluate and select technology and infrastructure products, Analyze functionality and features, assesses cost benefit factors and budgetary/resource impacts, Determine impacts/risks to client organization, security and users, Investigate compatibility with the existing operating environment Selects products for evaluation, determines evaluation criteria and recommends final selection. The Strategic Technologist will visualize an overall technology plan which consists of objectives, principles and tactics related to use of technologies within EXCEL ’s clients through the following: Ensure that technology solutions proposed comply with the customer ’s strategic architecture, direction and best practices. Develop and drive implementation of Solution / Technical Architecture / Integration Architecture / Migration Architecture / Deployment Architecture Drive Technical consistency and reuse across projects Ensure that solutions are robust and scalable Skills and Specifications: Possess strong business acumen: Understand capital and operational expenses and consider each as they create their solution Ability to recommend the appropriate technical solution for a given project or business need Ability to easily translate business needs to technical solutions Ability to easily explain complex technical concepts in simple, business-related terms Ability to work independently, and in a leadership capacity Able to respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs Excellent knowledge and experience in network and infrastructure architecture Excellent knowledge in cloud computing, data center infrastructure and virtualization Ability to mediate opposing viewpoints Resourceful and able to start on project work with ambiguous and incomplete information Education and Qualifications Four year college degree from an accredited institution Required Pre-sales customer-facing technical engineering experience in a business-to-business, large/strategic customer segment 5+ Years Prior implementation and assessment experience related to systems optimization, infrastructure support, networking and security solutions. 5+ Years Excellent experience in leading and successfully completing moderately complex projects — with experience in scoping and planning — scheduling, financials, resources, deliverables 3+ Years Solid verifiable understanding of network infrastructure related to datacenter virtualization, data security and cloud computing 5+ Years At least one current technical industry certification required: CCNP, MCSE, TOGAF, VCDX, VCP Required
