Supervisor: Wellness Director
Under the direction of the Wellness Director, the Level IV-Wellness Coach will primarily deliver the COACH APPROACH™ program in an effort to positively impact member health benefits including , but not limited to, improved mood, vigor, flexibility, strength, BMI, VO ² max , disposition to physical exertion, body image, and beliefs about one’s ability to adopt and adhere to exercise. The Level IV-Wellness Coach will also serve members in personal training-based programs. This position must perform program responsibilities in accordance with the policies, organizational competencies, mission, and values established by the YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta.
College degree, relating to exercise science, physical education, exercise psychology, or a related field is highly preferred.
Minimum of 6 months delivering THE COACH APPROACH™ at the Level III-Wellness Coach level.
Knowledge of general weight lifting and health/wellness concepts and the ability to demonstrate use of well-related equipment are required.
Pass the State of Georgia Criminal Background check.

FitLinxx Service Certification (within one year of employ)
Any other required certifications or trainings
Models the Organizational Competency Guidelines as outlined.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a minimum caseload of 100 active Coach Approach members if employed full-time, a minimum caseload of 50 active Coach Approach members if employed 20 hours a week, or a minimum caseload, which is adjusted proportionately based on the average number of hours worked if employed less than 20 hours a week.
National Personal Training certification from one of the following certifying bodies is required:
ACSM (cPT, HFS, ES, CES, RCES), ACE (PT, Adv. HFS), AFAA (cPT), AAPTE (cPT);
COOPER INSTITUTE FOR AEROBICS RESEARCH (cPT), IFPA (cPT), NASM (cPT),
NCCPT (cPT), NCSF (cPT), NESTA (cPT), NETA (cPT), NFPT (cPT), NSCA (cPT),
TWCC (Adv. cPT)
Be available to work at least two, four - hour shifts per week. Up to 50% of this time may include teaching classes which are listed on the Group Exercise schedule as being beginner and/or intermediate group exercise classes. This does not include Group Personal Training Classes.
Attends all staff meetings and training as required including orientation CD, FitLinxx operation and equipment orientation prior to working on the wellness floor.
Follows strength training and nutrition guidelines, complying with the National YMCA and ACSM guidelines.
Cleans, maintains and checks equipment under the direction of the supervisor, reporting any repair needs
Monitors the wellness center floor and helps members as needed, while enforcing wellness center policies and guidelines.
Knows, understands and consistently applies Metro Atlanta YMCA risk and safety guidelines/best practices, and/or branch emergency procedures
Maintains certifications by meeting continuing education requirements (YMCA certifications require 15 hours of Continuing Education Credits every 3 years).
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program activities on wellness floor that includes manipulating controls on exercise equipment, seeing the screen to manipulate data, demonstration of equipment use, and occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds. Occasional exposure to noise levels at an average of 90 decibels (music) over an eight-hour day.

The Level IV-Wellness Coach will be part of the team helping the Metro Atlanta YMCA become the leader in providing health and well-being benefits to adults, youth, and children by engaging them in physical activity. The Level IV-Wellness Coach is integral in delivering our belief that the Y is for Youth Development, For Healthy Living and For Social Responsibility. Our end result is to have “Delighted Members” by striving to meet or exceed supervisor and/or member expectation.
Hours: Full-time, non-exempt (shift: 1:00pm-10:00pm)
Salary: $11.85-15.66 per hour
