Full responsibility in leading the Med/Surg, ICU, and Case Management Departments. Assesses the delivery of nursing care to include identification of the number and job class of personnel needed to provide patient care. Adjusts staffing and patient assignments appropriately. Develops and maintains an interdisciplinary continuous quality improvement program (CQI) for units of responsibility. Responsible for monitoring, documenting and improving the Nursing Process utilizing CQI principles. Evaluates nursing practice and environment in contributing to the development of standards that assure quality patient care. Revises policies and procedures for the units of responsibility, assuring they are in compliance with State/Federal regulations, and JCAHO. Participates in formal self-evaluation by identifying areas of strength and those for further development. Directly supervises 20-50 employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; coaching and mentoring employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. BSN preferred.
