Operates a variety of production machine tools such as drill or punch presses, power mills, brakes, sheers, mills, lathes, milling machines, boring machines, and grinders; for machining metallic and non-metallic parts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Reads blueprint or job order for product specifications such as dimensions and tolerances; reads tooling instructions such as fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut; determines sequence of operations.
Performs routine set-ups with tolerances that are easily acquired and maintained.
Uses standard jigs, fixtures, and gauges to check work.
Performs other related duties as required.
Normally receives no instruction on routine work, general instructions on new assignments.
Works on assignments that are moderately complex in nature where judgment is required in resolving problems and making routine recommendations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and two-to-four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and associates.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
