Machinist Level B
Non-exempt status Reports to: Machine Supervisor
Summary : Set up and operate typical machine shop equipment; lathes, mills, and etc.; to perform standard machining operations, milling and turning, including threading. Machine, modify, and/or repair precision parts, fabrications, and service hardware from materials common to industry, such as metals, plastics, etc. applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.
Essential Duties: • Reads and interprets blueprints to plan, setup and operate of all types of machine shop equipment, primarily manual mills, lathes, and grinders • Uses full range of precision measuring and gaging tools to perform inspection. • Starts up and shuts down equipment in line with company safety procedures for equipment under power and OSHA requirements. • Frequently works with other tradesman. • Machine parts, hardware, and fabrications to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, or grinders from blueprints, company manufacturing manuals, written and/or verbal instructions • Plans setup and operates typical machine shop equipment, producing parts to close tolerances and company specifications • Must be able to work with a team or independently with minimal supervision • Demonstrate willingness to teach and learn new skills. • Act in accordance with and in support of the Quality Management System. • Complies with all quality, health, safety and environmental regulations. • Frequently performs duties for receiving inspection.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Machinist Level B
Education Level: (minimum) Two year degree or 3 years’ experience or a combination of work and education
Preferred areas of study: Prototype or research and development.
Similar or Related Experience Desired: (minimum) 5 years
Lifting: 100 lbs. max Mobility: Standing Kneeling Walking Sitting Stooping Reaching
Visual: Close or highly concentrated visual work.
Audio: Receive detailed information through verbal communication in person
Personal Demands/Stress: Repetitious operations
Work Environment Conditions: General machine shop, air-conditioned; warehouse subject to elements.
