Madison B-cycle, Madison’s Urban Bike Sharing Program is looking for a qualified Technician Manager for full time employment. This role is a public face of B-cycle therefore a positive and friendly attitude is an absolute necessity! Perspective employee must possess excellent mechanical and customer service skills. Ideal candidate is team driven, goal oriented, and self-motivated.

Primary responsibilities include:
Lead bike and station operations including rebalancing, bicycle maintenance, station maintenance and cleanliness
Close coordination with customer service team to listen and to serve the needs of customers
Work under the guidance of the General Manager
Manage a staff of 3 mechanics including scheduling, hiring, training
Maintain facilities, vehicles and equipment
Managing and sticking to a specified budget.
Day to day responsibilities include:
Maintaining stations (troubleshooting, replacing parts, winterizing, swapping batteries)
Balancing the system (Moving bikes around)
Bike maintenance (yearly overhauls, 2 week inspections, basic repairs)
Selling (face of B-cycle, everyone sells)
Customer service/ interaction (answering calls, questions on the street)
Operating/maintaining sprinter van (cleaning and running)
Installation and removal of bike sharing stations
Events (setup, tabling, tear down)
Lead permitting process for new or relocated bike sharing stations.
o High proficiency in Excel, Word, Google Applications, and ability to learn new software.
o Excellent organization, written and verbal communication skills; ability to meet deadlines.
o Demonstrated personal and professional commitment to the vision, mission and values of sustainable transportation.
o Ability to coordinate and maintain strong ongoing relationships among multiple parties, including employees, manufacturers, subcontractor(s) and clients.
o Ability to understand technical aspects of the software and the hardware capabilities and needs of a bike share system.
o Organized thinker, with the ability to self-direct under a high pressure environment with changing deadlines.
o Ability to drive continuous improvements of the operations that are in line with international standards and company corporate initiatives.
o Comfortable in a high-pressure, high-visibility, start-up environment.
o Ability to adapt to changing roles.
o Valid driver license and clean driving record (no major violations in past 5 years; no more than 2 minor in past 3 years).
o Available nights and weekends.
o Job may require hours that exceed 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week.
o Requires stooping, reaching, biking, and lifting of 50+ pounds.
o Small team skills and a willingness to have fun while completing the goals are a must!
