Suffolk University is seeking an enterprising and entrepreneurial individual to fill the Suffolk University Alumni Magazine (SAM) Art Director/Senior Graphic Designer position who will work as part of the creative team in the Office of Marketing & Communications (OMC) to develop and produce SAM as well as other print and multimedia projects for clients across the University.

In the role of SAM Art Director, this position reports to the Editor-in-Chief of SAM and is responsible for managing all graphic design aspects of each issue of SAM. Working within budget parameters, the art director selects freelance design contributors including photographers and illustrators, initiates contracts, and provides creative direction throughout the process. S/he also manages the production process in collaboration with the printer.

This position also reports to the Director of Creative Services as a Senior Graphic Designer, supporting the rest of the OMC creative team on other communications projects as needed. As
part of the OMC team, the SAME Art Director/ Senior Graphic Designer works to interpret the overall University mission and the specific marketing and communication goal for SAM and other communications projects and to incorporate the appropriate format and graphic design. This position will provide graphic design support for Web and multimedia content development as well as for print materials. This position initiates and promotes consistent and accurate presentation of Suffolk University throughout University projects.
OMC works with departments across the University including advancement, enrollment, and student affairs, as well as academic departments within the three schools.

Requires:
Bachelor’s degree or higher and formal education in graphic design

5 - 7 years experience in the design field and experience with project management,

Proven success designing magazines as well as marketing-oriented, creative In-depth knowledge of the printing process

Comfort with and enthusiasm for new technology and multimedia communication

Proven design & project management leadership skills and ability to take initiative

Ability to work cooperatively on a team and in a leadership role on individual projects

Ability to develop & maintain strong client relations with emphasis on superior customer

Proficiency with relevant design software, including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, for Macintosh computers.

Excellent attention to detail and ability to multi task and work cheerfully under tight deadlines.
