We are searching for a Maintenance & Reliability Supervisor to join our Manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, self-starter with strong industrial fermentation and/or downstream oil processing at large scale manufacturing. The candidate must be comfortable working in a dynamic start-up environment. This position will be a key part of a core group of manufacturing professionals that will be responsible for starting up and operating the world’s largest algal oil production operation.

The Maintenance & Reliability Supervisor will be a hands-on leader that oversees highly organized work environment including safety and activities of maintenance and reliability team to support 24/7 algal oil production process. This includes all facets of the facilities and production process including mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and automation through Solazyme staff and contractors.

The successful candidate will have a sound knowledge of maintenance and reliability principles and able to effectively implement in dynamic start-up production facility. Candidate will have strong leadership skills in safety, maintenance and reliability initiatives. Strong organizational and communication skills (written and oral) are essential. Candidate will have high initiative to drive continuous improvement to support production activities in a dynamic startup company.

RESPONSIBILITIES include:
Assist with the development and implementation of highly effective health and safety program.

Working knowledge of the function, maintenance and repair of motors, pumps, centrifuges, conveyors, electrical components and steam plant operational equipment.

Coordinate, schedule, supervise and support maintenance activities of maintenance and operations personnel to support production operations.

Develop, implement and maintain a Maintenance Management System (MMS) for the timely scheduling, performing and recording of preventative and corrective maintenance on plant equipment.

Oversee the procurement and implementation of a functioning MMS.

Oversee the purchase and maintaining of the inventory of maintenance supplies and replacement parts including critical spare parts.

Maintain maintenance record keeping.

Develop and procure required maintenance shop tools, equipment and consumables.

Coordinate with supervisors and managers to plan and execute effective shutdowns and outages.

Assist with the start up, shutdown, day to day and cleaning operations of the plant and equipment and maintain logs.

Interact/communicate with technicians, supervisors, and managers concerning maintenance/electrical issues.

Ensure that the plant is kept clean and well maintained.

Developing and implement an ongoing maintenance training program.

Facilitate communication between all departments.

Complete miscellaneous tasks or initiatives as assigned by the Plant Manager.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
B.S. degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or related field plus significant relevant experience would be preferred.

4+ years of demonstrated success leading technicians, associates and/or engineers in a manufacturing setting.

Strong working knowledge of maintenance and reliability principles at industrial scale.

Experienced in establishing and practicing a culture of safety.

Team player that thrives in a cutting edge, fast paced environment.
