This position is responsible for assisting a major client with the management and execution of their maintenance program. This individual will be an active and integral member of the maintenance engineering team and will participate in the daily work routine as necessary.


The planner's role will be to maintain equipment within the assigned area of responsibility in a state of readiness to support test production. Will also be responsible to assist in determining the appropriate preventive maintenance (PM) frequencies, ensuring PM content is accurate and appropriate, evaluating consumables selection for cost reduction, and estimating task duration, to name a few. There will also be procedural and equipment issues that arise from the skilled trades comments requiring engineering evaluation and direction to improve specific maintenance procedures. The engineer will also screen the corrective maintenance (CM) work orders for opportunities to perform root cause failure analysis to prevent future failures. Provide maintenance planning support for vehicle test and development equipment to include: equipment failure troubleshooting, corrective action analysis, repair parts specifications and ordering, repair work planning, scheduling, and coordination. Must be proficient at using a computer to perform word processing, develop spreadsheets, and manage maintenance activities via a computerized maintenance management system. Individual must be self-directed and resourceful.


BS degree from an accredited engineering school and a minimum of five (5) years of related engineering experience. Experience in a plant maintenance planning environment, a plus. Experience with the maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of refrigeration systems, large fans, dynamometers, boilers, air handling units including desiccant air dryers, and miscellaneous facility equipment associated with complex test systems is essential. Knowledge and experience with the implementation of new and advanced maintenance management techniques a plus. Must be familiar with all skilled trade areas of responsibility and be an excellent communicator both written and oral. Experience in analyzing trends in performance parameters (vibration, temperature, metals, etc.), a plus. Strong organizational skills and a proven ability to multi-task are required.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to perform field work in tight spaces, maneuver in and around facility equipment while obtaining measurements and performing equipment inspections and troubleshooting. Requires the physical ability to walk around large facility, up/down stairs, climb fixed ladders, etc. 25%

Work Environment:

Field work may bring individual into close proximity of extreme high or low temperatures, high speed rotating equipment and high noise levels; primarily inside, occasionally outside 25% of time.

Equipment and Machines:

Work with general office equipment (computers, fax, telephones, copiers, etc.) 75% of time.

Work with hand held test equipment - 10% of time.


Regular attendance is mandatory

Occasional overtime is required as needed to meet project schedules

Must take and pass a pre-employment drug test and background screening.
