Supervises the maintenance of all equipment (including vehicles) at the plant. Oversees annual crane, chain and sling inspections.
Ensures equipment is in good working order. Troubleshoots and resolves equipment breakdowns. Maintains current knowledge of government, industry, customer and company standards, procedures, policy/rules.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Acquires bids and estimates for repairs and capital projects
Makes recommendations on upgrades, capital projects, and disposal of spent equipment
Oversees switching operations within the plant and ensures all departments are switched timely and safely
Manages three direct report team members and writes performance evaluations for each team member
Oversees the completion of capital projects
Performs safety efficiency tests
Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
A minimum of 1 year experience departmental supervisor in addition to 2 years working with repair processes, railcar inspection, inspection result documentation, estimating and work order formation, welding inspection and quality assurance plan implementation.
Industry knowledge of Safety Rules and MSDS knowledge
Industry knowledge of the nomenclature of a railcar
Maintenance of plant equipment
Ability to make logical decisions and associations, show initiative and be a productive self starter with minimal supervision
Ability to pay strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask
