The purpose of this position is to provide professional maintenance of the roadways, signs, buildings, and to maintain the landscape. This is accomplished by driving and operating heavy equipment including dump trucks, tractors, street sweepers, snow and ice equipment, litter picker, fork lifts, front end loaders, skid loaders and various other heavy equipments. The position also entails duties such as operating air compressors, push mowers, weed eaters, crack sealing machines, chemical applicators, and various other road and landscape equipment. Other duties include making minor repairs and assisting others with inspections and preventive maintenance.
Mowing grass and weeds. Weed eating along guardrails, fence lines, around light poles, and bridge columns. Duties also include using pressure washer to wash walls to remove dirt, tire marks, and debris.
Maintaining and repairing of damaged appurtenance including guardrails, fences, signs, attenuator, median walls, and flume drains.
Operations of heavy road sweeper and removal of debris from roadway. Also includes sweeping of entry and exit ramps, and shoulder access. Clean up of snow and ice debris.
Operating a Vactor truck to remove debris from drainage system, remove litter and/or debris from roadway, manually clean drains and repair and/or replace drain grates. Also perform rolling lane closures to ensure safety of workers and pedestrians.
Repairing pot holes and spills on the roadway.
Build up and creation of roadway signs pursuant to the “Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices”.
Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature that may be obtained with six-months/one year of advanced study or training past the high school equivalency. Junior college, vocational, business, and technical or correspondence schools are likely sources. Appropriate certification may be awarded upon satisfactory completion of advanced study or training

Basic - Ability to recognize meaning of common two- or three-syllable words. Ordinarily, such education is obtained in elementary school up to high school. However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study.

Basic - Ability to write simple sentences containing subject, verb, and object, and/or series of numbers, names, and addresses. Ordinarily, such education is obtained in elementary school up to high school. However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study.
Valid driver's license. Ability to obtain a CDL within 6 months of hire.
