Purpose of Position
To assist different trades in the performance of work orders required for maintenance and operation of the residence halls. To assist and help provide a comfortable living environment for students living in the residence halls.
Process and complete work from a work order system. Communicate daily with supervisor and staff. Check and maintain electrical service in student rooms. Change out lamps and switches. Repair bed frames and furniture. Change out air filters and work with HVAC technician doing preventative maintenance on units. Repair lavatories and toilets and work with other trades as required. Work in a diverse environment, encourage and promote diversity. Pick up equipment and drive UT vehicle. Repair heavy duty vacuum cleaners and cleaning equipment. Submit paperwork in a timely manner.
Class "C" Operator's Driver's License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving
Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License
within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.
At times work in stressful environments. Exercise good safety habits. Work independently as well as in shared office space. Other related functions as assigned.
High school graduation or GED. Two years of experience as a helper or apprentice to a journey level craft worker. Licenses: Class "C" Operator's Driver's License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident. Applicant selected must have an acceptable 3 year driving record and maintain an acceptable driving record and valid license throughout employment.
Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
More than four years of experience in electrical, plumbing, and/or building maintenance and repair environment. Experience installing and repairing doors, showers, toilets and lavatories. Two or more years of experience in carpentry. UT experience. Good communication skills. Team-player.
