To provide skilled journeyman and sub-journeyman work in the performance of a variety of maintenance and repair tasks in all craft areas. Responsible for the maintenance and repair work covering the areas of plumbing, painting, electrical, carpentry, air conditioning and refrigeration.
Performs rough concrete laying and patch plastering; assists in installation of locks and door closers; does rough painting; assists carpenter in tasks of construction, repair and maintenance of wood structures and articles. Performs less skilled electrical work such as repair and adjustment of electrical equipment and appliances. Installs ceilings; repairs lines, faucets and pipe fittings; replaces sinks; fabricates and welds as required. Cleans coils on window air conditioning units. Checks and changes filters and checks coils on air conditioning systems. Changes smoke detector batteries. Changes repair kits and flush valves on commodes. Changes shower and faucet heads. Repairs drinking fountains and urinals. Installs sinks. Performs masonry and concrete repair. Changes window blind brackets, hangs window blinds and fits blinds with new tapes and cords. Changes door handles and inspects and repairs doors. Repairs equipment. Provides preventive maintenance on motor vehicles. Repairs outdoor sprinkler systems. Replaces light bulbs and wall switches. Performs inventory, recordkeeping, and general maintenance duties at intramural fields. Provides routine maintenance on athletic exercise equipment. Assists in welding, bricklaying, plumbing, plastering, cement finishing, and other tasks.
Class "C" Operator's Driver's License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving
Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License
within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.
Other related functions as assigned.
High school diploma; Two years of experience in performing installation, operation, construction, maintenance and/or repair work in a field related to the work to be performed.
Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
More than two years of experience as a helper or apprentice to a journey-level craft worker in a field related to work to be performed.
