Under the direction of the Manager of Management Consulting, this individual will conduct primary research projects and provide consulting services that are aligned with the Corporate Strategy and that will help improve the performance of the Health Plan and its subsidiaries. Management Consultants are expected to possess the technical skills and abilities to help establish Management Consulting as a research Center of Excellence for the Lifetime Health organization. Projects range in scope from conducting primary research to making recommendations to improve business decisions.

Serves Executive and Operating Management corporately to provide objective research expertise on tactical and strategic issues/initiatives

Essential Responsibilities/Accountabilities

In accordance with the corporate and department mission and strategy, this individual will:
• Conduct primary research for the Corporation, which includes the following core competencies; methodological and experimental design consulting, survey design, data analysis, using data to improve business-decision making, and qualitative moderation. Position requires a highly diverse skill-set with emphasis on analysis, consulting, and report writing.
• Support senior management and operating areas by providing primary research and project management services that will result in more effective operations.
• Investigate procedures, systems or areas that have been identified as problematic, report findings to management and recommend solutions.
• Expertise in using the statistical software package for the purposes of both data management and analysis
• Establish and prepare status reports to ensure adherence to time frames and completion of projects.
• Provide the organization with a complete and accurate assessment of customer satisfaction levels and recommend actions to improve satisfaction levels.
• Serve as a member of Corporate task forces and committees. Communicate decisions made to other members of the department and affected areas.
• Keep abreast of developments germane to the Corporation by perusing publications, attending workshops/seminars and as necessary independent study.

• Performs other functions as assigned by Management.
Level II performs these additional responsibilities
• Represents Managers and Directors of supported areas in all pertaining to related projects, including decision-making responsibilities, attendance at Corporate and regional committees, meetings and workgroups.
• Determines, monitors, and reviews all project economics to include project costs, operational budgets, staffing requirements, project resources, and project risk. Identifies and assembles the appropriate blend of talent and additional resources to meet project needs and requirements.
• Formulates contingency plans to address schedule revisions, manpower adjustments, fund allocations, and work requirements. Ensures adherence to legally binding requirements and customer long-term strategic goals. Controls project requirements, scope, and change management issues.
• Coaches and counsels members of cross-functional teams to accomplish projects, meet established schedules, or resolve technical/operational issues.
• Responsible for managing project teams.
• Guides and mentors project management team and fosters positive attitudes among staff on quality and safety to ensure that delivered service meets agreed service levels
• Identifies and maximizes return on investment through market research vendor contract negotiations.
• Ensures the effective utilization of material resources by developing budgets and maintaining operational costs within corporate guidelines.
Level I –
• Bachelors’ degree required with a minimum of 3 years work experience including at least one year of primary research experience.
• Must be willing to continue to take additional related market research courses.
• Demonstrated proficiency in survey design, data analysis and report writing.
• Demonstrated proficiency in working with statistical packages, spreadsheets and cross-tabs.
• Highly effective communicator.
• Demonstrated experience with Quality principles and tools. Demonstrated business problem solving skills.
• Very strong analytical skills with a working knowledge of Advanced Statistical analysis including regression and factor analysis.
• Demonstrated competence in staff leadership and project leadership tasks.
• Demonstrated skills in conflict resolution.
• Keeps abreast of latest advancements in primary research tools, techniques and corporate protocols to best meet the business requirements of the Corporation.
• Writes and speaks fluently on all aspects of work.
• Communicates effectively with users/customers, colleagues 2-3 levels up/down and across a range of disciplines, and all levels of management.
• Directly negotiates with and functions as a liaison between functional partners, vendors, users, and suppliers.
Level II –
• All other qualifications as assigned to Level I.
• Masters’ degree required, PhD preferred and at least 4 years of primary research and consulting experience in Level I or the equivalent.
• Must be willing to continue to take additional related market research courses.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience of health insurance industry.
