    Rotate call with other SMBHWN Managers.

    Qualifications
    • BSN required
    • MSN or Master's degree in related field preferred
    • Current unencumbered California Registered Nurse licensure required
    • CPR and NRP certifications required.
    • Three years recent experience with High Risk Antepartum/Labor and Delivery required
    • Must have prior leadership experience
    • Must demonstrate excellent leadership and communication skills
    • Must demonstrate expertise in customer service skills
    Summary
    This position is for a Manager for the Perinatal Special Care Unit (PSCU) at Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women and Newborns. The manager assumes the 24-hour responsibility, accountability, and day-to-day operations of a 36 bed perinatal special care high risk, antepartum unit. The manager role includes: collaborating with the Director and leadership team to ensure the implementation of department operational goals and assuring quality of care and compliance with internal, regulatory and accreditation standards.

    One of the few units of its kind in the country, a highly-skilled team including nurses and perinatologists care for the high-risk antepartum patient on this specially designed PSCU. Patients with preterm labor, complicated with diabetes and/or hypertension, comprise the majority of the patient population.

    The PSCU at Sharp Mary Birch is designated for San Diego women who have premature labor, or whose pregnancies have been complicated by conditions such as diabetes or high blood pressure. There are education and therapeutic activities for patient such as Arts for Healing, Pet Therapy, High Tea Time, and A-Z Education. This 36 bed PSCU is a first of its kind in San Diego and women who are admitted to this unit receives focused care no matter the duration of their stay.
