Manager, NERC Reliability – South
The Manager, NERC Reliability – South provides technical knowledge for the development of programs, policies, procedures and processes in support of the Company’s NERC Reliability and ISO Compliance strategies for generation plants in the RFC, SERC, TRE, and WECC Regions.
Focus on protecting the company’s reputation striving to avoid non-compliances with the applicable NERC standards and associated penalties from FERC/NERC through coordinated compliance efforts.
Manage the NERC compliance program to drive each regulated plant’s continuous compliance with all applicable NERC standards.

The Manager, NERC Reliability – South manages the company’s NERC compliance program incorporating input from plant-based Subject Matter Experts to support the NERC Registered Entities compliance with NERC Standards.
Conduct (or participate in) internal assessments and/or spot checks for the NERC Compliance Program and risk assessment process, including reporting and oversight of corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
Coordinate the use of external resources involved in the NERC Compliance Program, including interviewing, negotiating contracts and fees and managing external resources.
Provides day to day support of Registered Entities and ensures corporate compliance with applicable NERC standards and requirements.
Develop web-based employee training regarding NERC Requirements for plant personnel on corporate procedures and NERC requirements.
Takes direction from and regularly communicates with the NERC Compliance Team Director to ensure that the Director is aware of changes in NERC standards and requirements that could affect the company’s Registered Entities.
At the request of the NERC Director, communicates with NERC and Regional compliance regulators on behalf of the company’s Registered Entities. Negotiate settlements of potential violations on behalf of the Registered Entities.
The Manager, NERC Reliability – South facilitates internal assessments and external Regional audits of the Registered Entities.
Keeps abreast of FERC Orders and NERC Standard developments and communicate this knowledge to plant-based regulatory compliance staff and associated professionals to develop effective compliance strategies.
The candidate must have strong knowledge of process flow, risk analysis, internal control, technical writing, best practice, compliance, and procedure development.
Carries out other duties as assigned
Applicant should have prior direct experience in Internal Audit, external audit or compliance in a lead or manager role.
The ideal candidate will have five plus years of experience in power plant operations and compliance with the NERC requirements that apply to the Generation Owner and Generator Operator functions.
Experience serving as a key advisor to executive management on technical matters, developing recommendations on policy options and program standards, and influencing decisions that have significant and long-term resource implications.

Proficient in understanding the NERC regulatory environment, FERC and Regional Entities.
Possess critical thinking skills and problem solving skills.
Thorough knowledge of power plant operations.
Bachelor’s degree degreed preferred or the equivalent years of experience
