The Role

The Search Manager is a critical member of the UM Search team, primarily
responsible for client management, paid search strategy/planning, bid
management, optimization, and analysis across UM Search Clients. This role
provides day-to-day client support for search campaigns and is the internal
agency search expert for key clients/brands. The position provides an
opportunity to work with leading search engines (Google, Yahoo, Microsoft,
Youtube, etc.) to develop effective search marketing for leading automotive and diversified accounts. The Search Manager reports to the Sr. Manager (Associate Director) on internal and client deliverables and career development.

  • Establish campaign goals and metrics
  • Lead client/vendor meetings and calls
  • Negotiate vendor contracts
  • Mentoring and retaining search staff under their management
  • Ensure search team is submitting client deliverables on schedule
  • Develop reporting templates and client presentations
  • Analyze reports and provide optimization recommendations
  • Troubleshoot ad servers and bid management tool for data
  • Provide POV on new developing search trends and execute new beta
  • Lead and manage keyword, ad copy and landing page recommendation
    and execution
  • Promote new media tactics such as mobile, local, social when
  • Identify new business opportunity for account growth (Advance
    Analytics, SEO, etc.)
  • Responsible for managing search budget to ensure proper pacing
  • Resolve all search billing inquiries
  • Ensures necessary paperwork is in place for launching search
  • Foster strong client, search engine, and internal agency
  • Be the "go-to" search expert for day-to-day client and
    agency questions/requests

  • 3-5 years online marketing experience
  • At least 3+ years direct experience in search engine marketing
  • Experience in managing 3+ search staff
  • Proficient bid management skills and experience with DART Search,
    Marin, Kenshoo, or other leading bid technologies
  • Exceptional quantitative analytical skills and aptitude including
    intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • Understanding of dynamic priced buying models
  • Proven ability to represent company philosophies and expertise in
    client-facing situations
  • Strong desire to collaborate with internal teams and departments
    with ability to complete tasks and projects independently as well
