The Manager, Supply Chain is a hands-on role with limited supervision that is responsible for leading the development and implementation of Supply Chain food strategies across multiple categories. This role will review proposals for price, delivery time and quality, vendor selection and management, evaluate price trends, new products and usage rates. This role will also support identification, qualification, and implementation of productivity related initiatives for the BBI Enterprise. The Manager must possess initiative and drive; have broad relevant business knowledge with good management expertise for procurement with the objective of achieving high levels of adoption, concept satisfaction and ultimately revenue increases by aligning to the company vision and business objectives in both the long and short term.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
Work with VP of SC to develop functional vision and objectives
Lead negotiations of supplier contracts
Build strategic relationships with vendors and internal clients
Evaluate existing and potential vendors, both foreign and domestic, across multiple criteria, including price, quality, service, availability, reliability, selection, etc.
Researches and analyzes new products to determine if they are a fit and offer an upgrade in price, quality, reliability, selection, etc to internal clients
Study industry publications, trade journals and market information to keep current on relevant changes in procurement and the food service industry
Maintains current knowledge of and analyzes financial, industry and internal forecasts for products and materials and anticipates changes in cost, availability, and suitability of food
Coordinates and utilizes a team buying strategy across multiple spends to delivery best quality, service and costs and to build and design best and determine best products and/or services
Manages the full RFP process for new and existing products and services including distribution, evaluation and selection of vendors
Develop quantifiable business cases that support BBI vision and business objectives in regards to procurement of food (by concept and cross functional)
Analyze, develop and validate business process improvements and related policies / procedures that support the procurement of food
The ideal candidate will have the following experiences and qualifications:
Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Excellent analytical and mathematics skills
Good communication skills and adept negotiator
Four (4) college degree or
years of industry experience in foodservice preferred
Understanding of Supply Chain Management and procurement of food, groceries and further finished goods
Demonstrated ability in building relationships and strategic alliances while motivating both internal teams and suppliers to meet strategic objectives
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively multitask in a fast-paced environment
Proven experience working with cross functional teams to ensure cost control and process improvements
Convey a sense of urgency to achieve outcomes and exceed expectations; persist despite obstacles and setbacks; achieve set goals and deadlines; work as a partner to the enterprise to promote efficiency
Display positive attitude and demonstrate effective interpersonal skills with BBI resources from corporate and concepts
Strong organizational and time management skills, and the ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously
Requires 5 - 7 years foodservice experience
Strong business acumen to direct well-defined processes that can be standardized, measured and improved (i.e., a "process orientation"); visibly demonstrating a sense of urgency and strong personal ownership to supply chain performance; effectively works through barriers to implementation
Influencing Skills: strong ability to communicate a clear and compelling vision across all levels
Willingly takes on tactical roles as required to achieve objectives; secures commitment from the organization to doing things differently in order to obtain higher levels of organizational performance
Problem solving and decision making: Strong ability to dissect single and multiple situations to determine root cause and practical corrective actions
Provide leadership framework principles of insight, initiative, courage, service orientation, proactive cooperation and leading people
Ability to lead teams and align to common goals in a matrix organization
Ability to think strategically about our business, quality improvements, how we best support our customers and how we stay on the forefront of technology
Skilled in written and verbal communication to drive change and influence people including those outside of direct management responsibility
Ability to balance short term and long term needs of the business
Effective presentation and public speaking skills
