Job Scope
The Newsdesk Managing Editor is the lead editorial position overseeing NBCSports.com's day-to-day content and coverage. The managing editor will lead a team of editors and producers, and guide day-to-day editorial operations of NBCSports.com, and oversee integration of the content on all of NBC Sports' digital platforms as well as NBC Sports and NBC Sports Network broadcast programs.

Responsibilities
  • Manage all editorial aspects of content on the NBCSports.com, from story idea generation to execution to event coverage and everything in between
  • Oversee staff of editors and producers working on creating content for NBCSports.com
  • Work hand-in-hand with the NBC Sports Talk sites and video operations of NBCSports.com to ensure editorial quality and production for breaking news, special events and packages, as well as day-to-day content
  • Oversee integration and promotion of NBC Sports and NBC Sports Network editorial content on NBCSports.com, as well as the other channels within the NBC Sports Group
  • Work with the digital teams of the Comcast Regional Sports Networks on editorial integration and best practices across sites
  • Work with the technical operations and production teams on the core features and functionality of NBCSports.com, and accompanying mobile and tablet apps, to ensure they include the latest features available in digital content publishing
  • Work with the sales and marketing teams on packaging, planning and display of sponsored content
  • Oversee the social functions and content integration on NBCSports.com

    Qualifications/Requirements Qualifications

  • Minimum five (5) years in digital sports publishing
  • At least three (3) years in a managerial position overseeing direct editorial reports, including writers
  • Strong writing, editing and management skills
  • Demonstrated experience in packaging content for a digital audience, including video content
  • Deep understanding of current social publishing trends and how to integrate them editorially
  • Demonstrated experience of working with sales on marketing and monetizing content
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
  • Deep knowledge across all sports
