The Material Handling and Packaging Engineer is responsible for providing expertise and engineering support in multiple logistic elements to ensure the development of a dynamic system design that can meet World Class Manufacturing performance requirements focusing on the operators Golden and Strike zones. The Material Handling and Packaging Engineer will highlight aspects of the supporting infrastructure (operator work zone) that can be modified to improve efficiency, quality, cost and safety. Consistently demonstrate ability to effectively use logistics modeling tools to design manufacturing layouts, inbound and outbound transportation, network and supply chain solutions for planned and existing operations. Manage material handling equipment in order to gain efficiency in internal and external transportation. Provide engineering support including working directly with the internal and external customer groups on facility layout, facility flow, process flow, packaging and related data analysis. Create/maintain engineered labor standards for manufacturing functions. Analyze contractual commitments, customer specifications, design changes and other data to plan and develop logistic program activities within line side and operator work zone. Work closely with the Corporate Material Handling Engineering group as well as the Logistics and Work Place Organization Technical Planners and Specialists optimizing line side display for easy production and supporting the logistics pillar and the Materials Logistics Management organization from supplier to line side. (kitting areas, routes, tugging, suppliers, dunnage, etc.)

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Knowledge of Auto Cad, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Must be willing to work any shift, overtime, and holidays as required
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5 or more years of logistics experience in a fast paced manufacturing environment
  • Advanced degree preferred
  • Prior maintenance experience
  • Strong knowledge of Lean principles
