Anki's products combine a powerful blend of diverse technologies, beautiful design, and meticulous attention to every aspect of the customer experience. We’re looking to grow our team to help us develop the next generation of consumer robotics and entertainment.

We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer, based out of our San Francisco Headquarters, to drive manufacturing and quality initiatives at Anki’s US suppliers while liaising with the SF development and Asia manufacturing teams to assure DFx and smooth NPI for offshore production. You will be part of highly agile Operations team with a presence in China. We’re looking for someone who is passionate about owning the manufacturing and quality aspects for our product.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for NPI and sustaining manufacturing engineering including quality and process improvements, reducing cost, identifying required facility improvements, development of tooling & equipment for improvements, development of required documentation, operator training, demonstrating process capability and supporting transitioning products from development to production.
Provides technical assistance and liaison to Anki Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality Assurance, printers, packaging manufacturers, CMs, and other suppliers and assists in implementing new equipment, techniques, and procedures.
Performs Cost/Benefit analyses for new and improved processes and/or products.
Works with CM production personnel to gather input for process improvements on the production floor and document in manufacturing process instructions (MPI).
Analyzes and recommends products design changes for ease of manufacturing, cost reduction and quality improvement.
Confers with suppliers to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
Performs supplier qualifications and manufacturing process audits to improve process efficiency and drive continuous process improvement.
Using Arena product life cycle management (PLM) system, generates and manages product part numbers (PN) and bill of materials (BoM). Assure consistency and quality of product documentation and effective control of engineering changes (ECOs).
Manage regulatory test and compliance of products manufactured in the US .
Works effectively cross functionally (internally and externally) to help meet revenue targets.
Qualifications

Must demonstrate excellent analytical, interpersonal, project management, negotiating, written and oral communication skills.
Willingness to travel in the Americas and to Asia.
Experience shipping high-volume consumer products.
Broad manufacturing experience with (or exposure to) PCBA, Electro-mechanical, plastics, gears & motors, and RF desirable. Willingness to focus on mechanical, materials, and printing processes and packaging required.
Extensive experience with contract manufacturers in the US and Asia.
Familiarity with inks, pigments, and printing processes a plus.
Outstanding communication skills - verbal, written and presentation
5+ years as a manufacturing engineer
Excellent project management skills
Working knowledge of high-tech manufacturing processes and ecosystems.
Significant computer experience including advanced spreadsheet and PLM systems such as Agile or Arena.
