BUSINESS OVERVIEW :
The Turbines Supply Chain Unit is responsible for the design and integration of Turbines sub-systems for Civil, Defence, Marine and Energy applications, as well as for the delivery of Turbines commodities to Customer cost and quality requirements through an integrated supply chain. Turbines have internal manufacturing facilities in Ansty, Derby, Bristol & Italy as well as Joint Ventures in the UK and China, manufacturing turbine blades, nozzle guide vanes and seal segments. To support the growing Turbines business two new domestic facilities are being established; the Advanced Blade Casting Facility (ABCF) in Rotherham, UK and the Advanced Airfoil Machining Facility (AAMF) in Crosspointe, VA in the USA.
JOB SPECIFICATION :
This manufacturing engineering role will require a diverse set of skills and aptitudes including machine tool commissioning and validation, equipment documentation creation and management, problem solving, communication, programme management, planning and scheduling, working with OEMs and associated installation trades and contractors to successfully complete the full installation of the various machining, inspection and ancillary elements to deliver a capable manufacturing process.
The role will be limited for a period of approximately 18-months to cover the installation of the initial Turbine Blade and the NGV capacity.
PERSON SPECIFICATION :
The candidate will need to be an energetic, enthusiastic team oriented individual with an ability to operate at all levels. A detailed knowledge of machining processes, process excellence techniques, inspection practices will be necessary and the aptitude to learn rapidly will be a necessity. Facility installation knowledge is essential along with a detailed understanding of machine tool qualification. A high degree of computer literacy and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels on complex technical issues will also need to be demonstrated.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Manufacturing Engineer to work within the Advanced Airfoil Machining Facility (AAMF) team at Crosspointe to support facility start up. This role will support the introduction of the sealed manufacturing method for HP Turbine blades, from the Turbine Blade Facility (TBF) in Derby, and HP Nozzle Guide Vanes from the Bristol Turbines Facility. The role will encompass the installation and commissioning machine tool, validation work, process and component equivalence demonstration and other associated activities to support establishing and demonstrating a stable and capable manufacturing base. In addition the role will extend to support the full deployment of the associated manufacturing technical packages within the facility. Interest is sought from experienced manufacturing engineering candidates who feel they could join a team focusing on the creation of a new manufacturing facility.
