Market Surveillance Analysts are deeply engaged with the markets each day. They are responsible for monitoring activity in CME Group markets and related cash and derivative markets in order to detect market conditions, positions or transactions that may be indicative of manipulative activity or other activity or conditions that potentially could disrupt or otherwise adversely affect the integrity, performance or orderly expiration of Exchange contracts. Analysts closely and proactively monitor market activities, deliveries, news and fundamental factors that influence the price of their assigned contracts and communicate regularly with market participants and clearing firm staff. Analysts also conduct formal investigations of potential market abuse and other rule violations in connection with fulfilling the department’s regulatory responsibilities, work with complex data and systems, and prepare investigative reports. Analysts work independently and as part of teams in conducting their responsibilities and also work on a variety of projects related to the company’s broad regulatory functions.
Surveillance analysts play an important role in protecting the integrity of the markets and enjoy significant diversity in their work, including surveillance assignments across the broad portfolio of CME Group markets, investigative work and project assignments. The department’s work is challenging, interesting and varied, requiring a diverse set of skills, and the position provides broad exposure to the industry as well as significant growth opportunities.
Qualifications: Surveillance analysts come from a diverse array of backgrounds and require excellent analytical and problem solving skills, as well as strong oral and written communication skills. Facility in working with data and systems and a strong detail orientation are also required. Candidates must have a bachelor degree.
