Serves as Executive Director for the Georgia Center for the Book at DeKalb County Public Library. Plans and implements literary programming for county-wide and state-wide impact.


Supervises, directs and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, and directing and reviewing work.

Manages, directs and coordinates the activities of the Georgia Center for the Book (GCB) Advisory Council.

Plans and develops literary programs, projects and contests that promote and increase interest in reading, writing, literature, literacy, libraries and the literary heritage of the State of Georgia.

Coordinates GCB events, fundraisers, ceremonies, etc.

Maintains and cultivates GCB's relationship with the Library of Congress Center for the Book and Georgia Public Library Service.

Establishes productive and positive working relationships and cooperative partnerships with other complementary organizations to further the mission of the Georgia Center for the Book and DeKalb County Public Library.

Stays abreast of national trends in successful literary programming.

Works with the DeKalb Library Foundation to develop special literary and fundraising programs.

Identifies and evaluates grant program opportunities, including writing grant proposals.

Participates in library administrative structure by serving on library committees or work groups as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors's degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Library Science, History, Literature or related field; five years of experience in journalism, public relations, communications or a related field, two years of which must be at a supervisory level. A combination of training and experience above the minimum requirements will be considered. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license.
